ABOUT

lake tahoe wedding

Iris & Barry Blooms specializes in creating memorable wedding floral designs throughout Northern Nevada and California. I know just how much time, emotion, and financial investment can go into a wedding or event, which is why it is my goal to create beautiful designs that will not only wow you and your guests, but that will help make a meaningful and unforgettable day. After all, florals are not only an accent to an overall space, but create an experience and tell a story. While my work has been described as lush & earthy, I strive to create designs that are specific to each client’s style, infusing those personal touches on their special day.

Sustainability is an important facet of my work. I aim to use seasonal flowers, support local farmers, and use alternative methods to toxic, non-biodegradable floral foam as often as possible in order to lower my carbon footprint. Another key component of my mission is giving back and helping others. I believe that when we do what we can for one another, we help make the world a better place. Each month, 2% of wedding earnings is donated to non-profit organizations such as The San Gabriel Humane Society, Northern NV Children’s Cancer Foundation, Pawsibilities Animal Shelter NV, Meals on Wheels, Children’s Hospital LA, Black Art Futures Fund, Save the Children, Ozzie & Friends Rescue, etc.

Let all that you do be done in love. -1 Corinthians 16:14

My name is Michelle, and I’m the owner/lead designer at Iris & Barry Blooms. I have been in the floral industry for 15 years and worked at several flower shops and design studios across California. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, but my experience with flowers and passion for design ultimately led to the start of Iris & Barry Blooms in 2017. The brand name is a combination of my niece’s name (Iris) and my maiden name (Barry). I was born and raised in Los Angeles County, CA, but Carson City, NV is where my husband (Thor), our two dogs (Bud & Sierra), and I have settled in to call home. We love the quietness, slower pace of life, and gorgeous views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I feel incredibly grateful to work closely with nature and am honored to get to help celebrate love and special occasions on a regular basis.

A few of my favorites:

Flower- Bearded Irises, Garden Roses, and Foxglove
Past time- Hanging with friends & family, exploring beautiful, Lake Tahoe, and listening to records.
Food- Sushi, Sinigang (a Filipino soup made w/Tamarind), any kind of pasta, and creme brulee.

FAQs

What areas do you serve?

We serve Northern Nevada + California (Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Olympic Valley, Carson City, Reno, and the surrounding areas).

What is your minimum?

Full-service weddings of 100-150 guests begin at $8k, full-service weddings of 75-100 guests begin at $7k, full-service weddings of
50-75 guests begin at $6k, micro-weddings of 30 guests or less begin at $4.5k, and elopements begin at $600. Our minimum pricing ensures high-quality blooms and beautiful, bespoke designs. Pricing will vary depending on the size of the wedding, the number of floral arrangements needed, and the type of designs/flowers desired.

Do you offer A-La-Carte flowers?

We do offer A-La-Carte, but have a studio minimum of $600 (pick-up only). Delivery/set-up may be added for $200.

How much should I plan to spend on wedding flowers?

Each wedding is unique, but a good rule of thumb is that you should allocate about 15% of your overall wedding budget to florals. If you are looking for very lush, elaborate floral decor you should plan on closer to 20%- 25% of your overall budget.

Do you offer rental items?

We primarily focus on florals but do have a limited number of arch frames, pillars, and gold stands available for rent (please inquire for more details). We also work closely with several local wedding rental companies, so if there are specific items you are looking for, we are happy to refer you!

We do not offer candle/votive rentals, however, they may be sourced/purchased through Iris & Barry Blooms.

What are break-down and re-purpose services?

Re-purpose services (moving and re-using florals from the ceremony to cocktail hour and/or the reception) during the event, if required, begin at $95 due to the staffing needed on site. We do not recommend re-purposing flowers from your ceremony if they will be outdoors, in full sun.

Break-down (removal of florals and any rental items after the reception), if required, begins at $400 (depending on the venue location and staffing needed on site).

Are you eco-friendly?

We are mindful of the impact that the floral industry has on the environment. We strive to use blooms that are local and in-season as often as possible in order to help support our local farmers and lower our carbon footprint.

We always aim to limit the amount of floral foam used in our mechanics (as it is non-compostable). The majority of our centerpieces and arrangements are designed using alternative methods such as chicken wire. Many venues do have restrictions regarding set-up time, and when this is the case, we may use a minimal amount of foam in order to create particular designs in our studio ahead of time. If you happen to have early access to your venue, we’ll gladly utilize the time to create more environmentally friendly alternatives on-site at the venue.
